My Fantastic Sister

My fantastic sister shipped me this Mother Goose book to use in my collage work. Aimée sent me this and one other really neat, very old, children's book. I have completely torn up "Best Loved Nursery Rhymes" from our childhood and I had to buy myself another copy on eBay! I love the nursery rhymes so much for the animals they feature, I love "How Now Brown Cow" and "Hey Diddle Diddle" was the most recent one I used for my night cows.

I am offering prints of my work on demand, as I have found a great printer who will print and ship for me! The prints are on heavy artists water color paper, backed with foam core. They are boxed flat and shipped directly to you.

Email me if you are interested in purchasing prints.

  1. Yikes! Can't you scan the old book pages and use them, rather than tearing up the book?

  2. I love painting, ripping, and tearing books! Does that make me bad??? AND I am a teacher!!! hehehehe
I have two nursery rhyme books for you and that mag I mentioned and I have had zero energy to drop it by this week. It may just have to go home with C from school. :o)

  3. I remember this Mother Goose cover! What fun and how delightful on this about to be first day of spring,2010!

One day I hope I can get one of these. By the way I took a friend to the Maitland Art Center last week. When Cecilia saw your work she exclaimed. "I love her work, have one and sent one to my sister!?"

To me this is like "all in the family" of my friends.

The diversity of your imagination amazes me! Happy Spring to you.

  4. Terry, the book sits collecting dust on the bottom shelf of my nephew's book case. My sister urged me to use it to make art that will affect many other people in a positive way, giving the book new life and freeing it from the dusty bottom shelf and never being opened anymore, outgrown and under appreciated. And on a technical note, you cannot put any water or water based glue to ink jet prints, they bleed, and the paper is just not the same, we are looking for variety of paper, texture, thickness, and shade of white. :)

  5. Jessica is ANOTHER FANTASTIC supporter of my collage work, Jessica has sent me tons of wonderful postage stamps and books about dogs and music, two of my new favorite topics. She brought me an amazing opera book just last week. She does love ripping and tearing books and guess what? SHE IS A TEACHER (I think that does make you bad Jessica!) Ha ha. She rescues them from yard sales and gives them new life and a new sense of importance as a permanent part of fine art, to hang on the wall and be admired for years to come. NOt to mention the JOY OF THE PROCESS of collage, that's the best.

  6. Happy Spring ME, it's finally getting warmer. I've got to tell you I've had an epiphany about the music show– Saint-Saens' "Carnival of the Animals" .... it came to me at orchestra rehearsal last week as our conductor read us some of the poems associated with the music we were rehearsing, it all fell into place.

  7. I am SO old that the Mother Goose book was the one I grew up with. SO tell me again...you are using the pictures for your subjects? Or you are actually TEARING up the book to paper paint? Which is it?

  9. Ha...I have the same book and I use it for my altered books that I make. I looked through it today as a matter of fact...weird. My Aunt gave it to me and I do feel a bit guilty when I take a page from it.

  10. Elisa, I'm sure your Aunt would be proud to know that you are giving the book new life. :)
