©2010 The Artist's Magazine
The All Media Competition winners are in print this issue of The Artist's Magazine! It's exciting to see Out to Pasture, first place in the category of collage, on page 15 of the July/August issue.
I am sure the online posting of the winners was seen by many, but don't you agree that we still need to receive our art magazines in printed format?
Some how there is much more of a feeling of presence and importance to something printed on paper, as opposed to a computer screen. Congratulations! You do wonderfully creative work and deserve to be recognized.
ReplyDeleteI want to look at my art magazines in the tub! you can't take your laptop in the tub. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a bin of art mags in my car for perusing when I'm stuck waiting for a wayward child. They also are great company to a glass of wine and a quite house, or a cup of tea on a rainy day. Life would be far less colorful and inspired without them. And congrats on a most excellent award!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, I love your work. I agree that I book is so much better.
ReplyDeleteI can't get the magazine here in the country I live in. So I am glad that it is posted online; so I can check out the art.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteYes,I do agree that art is best seen "in print" than on a computer screen.

ReplyDeleteI invite you look at the work of Nicholas Carr and his latest book: SHALLOWS. He was interviewed on All Things Considered yesterday http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=127370598
ReplyDeleteIt is about your brain on the internet and reducing functions. Yes, the written on paper held in our hands can be more powerful for keeping well tuned our brain functions.

Thanks for all the kudos! And I wish we could send the comments about the printed magazine to all of those publications who have decided to save funds and go completely digital, including my own Alumni magazine from SU! I can however, agree with Fenter who says if it were not for online, she could not get the printed version. So perhaps there is something to be said for having a choice!
ReplyDeleteI want it BOTH ways. On line AND in print. I know it's probably sacrilegious but I actually tear up my old art magazines and file them by category. And/or I cut out my favorite paintings and keep them in note books marked "watercolor", "acrylic" or "multimedia". This is probably over the top but it helps me. How could one do that with on line...you'd have to print it all out! And congrats, Elizabeth. I am re-watching your video this evening. It's even better the 2nd time.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! Congratulations!! I was flipping through my issue, when suddenly I saw a familiar face! I don't know if I am more excited for you, or for me - for "knowing" you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats again!
